Facelift Procedure
A facelift surgery is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. The surgeon may use general anesthesia or IV sedation, depending on the extent of surgery involved and other factors. The procedure begins with the plastic surgeon making an incision that starts in the temple area and goes along the hairline up to the ear. Through this discreetly placed incision, the surgeon will reduce excess skin, reposition or remove excess fat as needed, and tighten the weak underlying muscles and tissue.
The goal is to achieve a firmer and smoother facial contour. The procedure may be performed using traditional surgical techniques or endoscopic technique. Once the skin is re-draped smoothly over the face, the incisions will be closed with sutures or skin adhesive. The procedure is usually completed within two to three hours.
