Non-invasive skin rejuvenation procedures have surged in popularity over the past decade, as new technology has offered busy Americans increasingly effective ways to revitalize the appearance of their skin without the post-procedural down-time necessitated by surgical procedures. One of the most exciting new technologies to come about in recent years, and the only system to receive FDA approval for providing non-invasive aesthetic “lifting” benefits, is the Ulthera System.
HOW DOES THE ULTHERA SYSTEM WORK?
In order to effectively treat the problem of sagging facial skin, a therapeutic modality must be able to address and correct the structural weakening of the sub-dermal layers of the skin. Previous non-invasive therapies (ie. radio-frequency and laser treatment) have been unable to target these foundational layers, making a surgical facelift the only reliable skin lifting option until the development of the Ulthera System. Ultherapy utilizes micro-focused ultrasound energy to non-invasively target and treat the sub-dermal layers of the skin where the problem of skin laxity originates, providing skin-tightening and lifting benefits in a single 45-60 minute treatment, without requiring any post-procedural downtime.
Ultherapy is a highly versatile treatment, and is appropriate for patients of all skin types and ethnicities, with mild to moderate skin laxity (sagging), who are seeking non-surgical alternatives to a facelift or brow lift. The skin rejuvenating and lifting results of Ultherapy will gradually become visible 2-3 months following the treatment; however, many patients observe immediate improvements in the tightness, texture, and overall condition of their skin.
