HOW KYBELLA WORKS
Kybella works by literally destroying the unwanted fat cells causing your double chin, and once they are gone, they can never return! Kybella injections are composed of a precise, prescription-strength formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring substance that already exists in the body to remove dietary fat. When injected directly into the fat cells underneath the chin, Kybella destroys the cell membranes, causing the fat cells to burst and be painlessly and comfortably reabsorbed into the body. Once the fatty tissue is eliminated, your chin is restored to its sleek, youthful appearance.
Kybella is administered in the office in about 15-20 minutes, and does not require the use of anesthesia (some patients may prefer the use of a topical numbing cream for maximum comfort). The treatment involves multiple injections about 1cm apart, utilizing an extremely small needle. The potential side effects of Kybella are usually mild and temporary, and can include swelling, bruising, and numbness at the injection site. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately. Optimal results require two to four treatments, although some patients may require as many as six, spaced one month apart.
